This is a cigarette box made of lacquered wood that is printed on its lid with an illustration of a 19th century English gentleman - the illustration is signed, but I cant really interpret it. When you open the lid, the spring loaded metal cigarette holder pops up (see video). There is a compartment for matches and a match strike surface. The box measures 6 by 3 7/8 by 1 7/8 in height. It is in very good condition - a light surface scratch near the mans head, some wear to the gold trim, a couple of tiny indent marks to the exterior corners, and some surface wear to the underside, all quite minor damage. Difficult to date, but I would guess 1950s, maybe 1960s. Nice looking decorative piece.
